CHICAGO FOOTBALL CLASSIC
WHEREAS. The Chicago Football Classic. Inc is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to inspire African-American high school and college students through support for programs, initiatives and events that increase awareness of opportunities to achieve educational excellence. CFC events influence students and parents to consider the rich academic and cultural opportunities offered by Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
WHEREAS. African American college students are known to have higher graduation rates from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The group achieves these goals via several initiatives, including adopt-a-school programs and most notable, scholarships for African American students planning to attend HBCU institutions. WHEREAS, The Chicago Football Classic was established in 1997 by Larry Huggins. Everett Rand. Tim Rand, and William "Bill-Garth. The Chicago Football Classic initiatives empower students to not only complete high school, but also attend Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
WHEREAS, Each year the Chicago Football Classic host a series of events to raise funds for scholarship programs for African-American high school and college students, including the nation's largest HBCU reunion held at Soldier's Field.
WHEREAS. Always anticipated the classic is more than just a game; it's a three-day event which brings awareness to HBCUs, exposes Chicago students to various aspects of the college experience and focuses on the "Back To School" initiative. The Chicago Football Classic supports education lo help end the violence in our community and host an annual College Fair featuring 30 colleges and universities.
