SALUTING THE 3rd ANNUAL CAMREON CAN BENEFIT
X
WHEREAS, Honorary Co-Chair Antonio Romanucci and the Friends of Cameron hosts "Sham-Rockit Out", its 3rd Annual Benefit March 14, 2013 at Rockit Bar & Grill on West Hubbard Street; and

WHEREAS, Cameron Briggs Dominick was born on May 22, 2006, two months premature with a host of medical conditions affecting his brain, heart, kidney, diaphragm and spinal cord. At 3 weeks of life, he had his first brain surgery for hydrocephalus, a condition that can be treated but never cured; and

WHEREAS, Inspired by Cameron Dominick the mission of the Cameron Can Foundation is to provide a continuing legacy of care for families of children who need similar long term medical care. This year, monies raised go to providing such care for Declan Keddy, whose Irish heritage is inspiring this event, along with supporting the Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago Patient Emergency Fund as well as the Pediatric Hydrocephalus Foundation; and

WHEREAS, The amount of care needed for such children with chronic medical conditions can place a real financial strain on what is already a very difficult situation for many families. There is very little in the way of financial support for them when they fall into a "donut hole", where their income disqualifies them from receiving charity care from the Hospitals/Providers, Division of Specialized Care for Children, AllKids or Medicaid. No child should be denied a future due to the need for ongoing medical care and lack of financial assistance; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert W. Fioretti has informed this august body of the exemplary work of this extraordinary eleemosynary organization and the fundraising event taking place; now therefore

BE IT RESOLVED That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, gathered together this 10th Day of April, 2013 AD, do hereby salute the noteworthy efforts of Antonio Romanucci and the Friends of Cameron as well as the praiseworthy work of the Cameron Can Foundation and express our very best wishes for success in fulfilling its important and vital mission.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Antonio Romanucci and the Friends of Cameron.
