iiert Hontirirt^ Shen Yun Performing Arts ,
WHEREAS, on May 10-12, 2013, the City of Chicago welcomes the world's premier traditional Chinese dance and music ensemble, Shen Yun Performing Arts to the Cadillac Palace Theater; and
WHEREAS, established in 2006, now entering its sixth full season, the New York based, Shen Yun Peforming Arts is a performance company of mostly young people that is devoted to restoring the treasures of traditional Chinese culture while illuminating a deeper understanding of human life and the world; and
WHEREAS, Shen Yun Performing Arts has completed well over 1,500 performances to date. Every year, Shen Yun unveils an entirely new line-up of dances, songs, and musical scores. The 2012 season follows a very successful 2011 tour that enchanted over one million guests in 110 cities from 25 countries gracing the world's most prestigious theatres, such as the Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center Opera House, Kodak Theatre, London Royal Festival Hall, and Palais Des Congres De Paris; and
WHEREAS, Shen Yun Performing Arts is widely known for providing unique and spectacular tour of 5,000 years of Chinese history through dance, acrobatics, and stories. In Chicago, the Mid-USA Falun Dafa Association co-hosts the event to help bring the history to life; and
WHEREAS, The Mid-USA Falun Dafa Association is dedicated to the promotion and practice of the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance," and endeavors to extend far and wide these most precious and noble human ideals; therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and members of the City Council in meeting assembled this tenth day of April, 2013, do hereby congratulate the Shen Yun Performing Arts company on their forth coming performances on May 10-12, 2013, on behalf of the citizens of Chicago; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that suitable copies of this resolution be prepared and presented to Shen Yun Peforming Arts and Mid-USA Falun Dafa Association as a sign of our good will towards these organizations and the work that they perform.
