RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, On May 4, 2013 Linda and Bob Newton will celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary; and
WHEREAS, Linda June Mitchell was born on July 22, 1942 to parents Violet and Charlie Mitchell and she attended Audubon Elementary School and graduated from Lakeview High School in 1960;and
WHEREAS, Robert Lee Newton II was born on March 7, 1941 to parents Loretta and Robert Newton and attended St. Hilary Elementary School and graduated from St. George High School in 1959; and
WHEREAS, Bob caught Linda's eye while she was a teller and he worked in the currency exchange at Lincoln National Bank; and
WHEREAS, They consecrated the beginning of their long married life on May 4, 1963 at St. Hilary Church; and
WHEREAS, Season tickets to the Chicago Blackhawks, yearly trips to Door County, Wisconsin and golfing are some of the activities Bob and Linda have enjoyed as a married couple; and
WHEREAS, Always a hard worker, Bob dedicated thirty-two years of service to the City of Chicago working in several departments until January 1994 when he became Ward Superintendent of the 40th Ward, returning full-time to the neighborhood in which he was born and raised; and
WHEREAS, Continuing the tradition of living in the 40th Ward, Bob and Linda raised their two children, Robert Lee and Laura Ann there and they enjoyed a wonderful family life together; and
WHEREAS, Their son Robert and his wife Meaghan blessed them with three grandchildren, Robert Lee IV 'Riley', Maeve McDermott, and Liam George; and
WHEREAS, They will celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary and renew their vows at a mass at St. Hilary Church on May 4, 2013 followed by a reception at Monastero's Ristorante with family and friends; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, meeting this tenth day of April, 2013, do offer our heartiest congratulations and wish Bob and Linda good health, good fortune and continuing happiness as they celebrat...
