RESOLUTION TO CONGRATULATE THE NORTHWEST SIDE HOUSING CENTER FOR THEIR 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY
 
 
WHEREAS, The Northwest Side Housing Center, a non-profit organization , opened in June 2003 to assist residents on the northwest side of Chicago with a variety of housing needs. This year, they celebrate 10 years of exceptional service to the residents of the city of Chicago; and,
 
WHEREAS, The Northwest Side Housing Center is a community based organization with three main objectives: home preservation, education and older adult services. They strive to accomplish these ideals through outreach, housing counseling, and supportive services; and,
 
WHEREAS, The Northwest Side Housing Center focuses on affordable housing through their home preservation program. This nationally recognized program provides free foreclosure prevention services to almost 1,000 homeowners in Chicago per year. To assist as many residents as possible, and from many different backgrounds, they provide services in English, Polish and Spanish; and,
 
WHEREAS, The Northwest Side Housing Center's foreclosure prevention program has always included education. The Center provides a variety of education classes and seminars on topics such as first time homeownership and tenant/landlord issues. The Northwest Side Housing Center was also chosen as one of ten non-profits in the state of Illinois to run a "Parent-Mentor-Program" to encourage parent involvement in our schools; and,
 
WHEREAS, The Northwest Side Housing Center has been dedicated to assisting seniors for the last 10 years by working with older-adult residence facilities to help address various issues facing adults 55 years of age and older. The Northwest Side Housing Center also offers a "LET'S Ride" program providing free transportation to older adults as well as reverse mortgage counseling; and,
 
BE IT RESOLVED That we, the Mayor and member s of the City Council, gathered together this 10th day of April 2013 AD, do hereby congratulate The Northwest Side Housing Center on the exceptional work and many accomplishments of the last 10 years.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared to presented to
