TRIBUTE TO THE LIFE OF DORIS COLBERT
WHEREAS, In His Infinite Wisdom, Almighty God has called Doris Colbert, an outstanding public servant and member of her community, to her eternal reward, Sunday, December 8, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Doris Louise started her life's journey in Holly Spring, Mississippi on February 2, 1948 as the daughter of Clay and Nellie Mae Fitts. The Fitts Family moved to Chicago in 1953 and made it their home. Doris attended Parker High School and was a faithful member of St. John Evangelist M.B. Church under the leadership of Pastor Charles C. Hatter. Doris alter attended Crusaders under the leadership of Apostle John Eckhardt; and
WHEREAS, Doris Louise, a mature young woman captured the heart of Corvelle Colbert and became his devoted and loving wife in 1966. This young couple shared many joys and tribulations during their marriage and together they gracefully raised five wonderful and loving children; and
WHEREAS, Doris Louise Colbert was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and neighbor who will be deeply missed but the memory of her character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her; and
WHEREAS, Doris Louise Colbert leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memory, her husband, Corvelle; five children, William, Undre (Michelle), James (Yolanda), Kimberly and Tiffany; sixteen grandchildren, two sisters, three brothers, a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many other family members and friends; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Toni Foulkes, Alderman of the 15 Ward has informed this august body of the passing of Doris Louise Colbert; now therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council assembled this fifteenth day of January, 2014, A.D., do hereby express our sincerest sympathies to the family and friends of Doris Louise Colbert and extend our deepest condolences to all those who cherish her memory and mourn her passing.
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Doris Louise Colbert.
