RESOLUTION HONORING CYNTHIA WILLIAMS
WHEREAS, Cynthia Williams, Director, CEO, and founder of the Austin People Action Center (APAC), is being honored with a community birthday celebration on May 24th and 25th; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this occasion by the Honorable Emma Mitts, Alderman of the 37th Ward; and
WHEREAS, A woman of God, a friend to the poor, and a mother to the motherless, Cynthia has spent her career serving her community — whether championing services for pregnant women, children, and refugees or providing job training; and
WHEREAS, APAC is a community-based organization committed to serving the west side of Chicago by providing access to resources that promote health, education, and economt empowerment and services, including job training, healthcare, and educational support; and
WHEREAS, Cynthia established APAC in 1980, building on the belief that people deserve the right to have adequate nutrition, medical care, job opportunities, affordable housing, and access to education opportunities; for over 43 years, under Cynthia's leadership, APAC has worked to provide residents programs including prenatal and pediatric care, safe home after school fcx youth, teen reach, and diabetes prevention and education; and
WHEREAS, Whenever a wonderful talented and highly capable Chicagoan crosses one's life path, it is always the right time to give them the recognition and praise they deserve for their spirit, exemplary level of professionalism, and job well done over many years of service, and we wish to honor Cynthia Williams for being and influential and active leader in the community; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this thirty-first day of May, 2023, do hereby wish Cynthia Williams a happy and restful birthday, and recognize her for many years of service; and
