ICTfiWSl / The Members of this Chamber are proud to congratulate our friend and colleague, Alderman Timothy M. Cullerton, on his rnpst recent five years of dedicated and outstanding service to the people of the 38th Ward and the City of Chicago; and
- WHEREAS, A sixty*year resident of the Portage Park neighborhood ori Chicago's Northwest Side, Alderman Cullerton graduated from Our Lady of Victory Elementary School and Holy Cross High School. He then attended Washburne Technical Trade School, the Kennedy School of Electronics, and St Norbert College; and .
: WHEREAS, Prior to joining the Chicago City Council, Alderman Cullerton worked for the Chicago Department of Buildings, where he served as chief electrical inspector and; first, deputy building commissioner. A card-carrying member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 134; Alderman Cullerton is a past president of the Illinois Chapter of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors and a previous member, of the Chicdgo Building Board of Appeals; and .,
WHEREAS, First appointed to the City Council in 2016 to fill a vacant aldermanic seat, Alderman Cullerton was re-elected in 2011 by the residents of the 38th Ward; and
. WHEREAS, During his tenure in office, Alderman Cullerton vigorously advocated for the expansion: of rights of Chicdgo laborers, for increased investment in local businesses, and for a greater allocation of police and fire protection in the community; and
; WHEREAS, Alderman Cullerton's retirement1 marks the end pf an era of service to this Chamber by the Cullerton family. Beginning with Edward Foxy Cullerton, who was elected to the Chicagp City Council m l 871 just.befo^the i; Great Chicago Fire, and continuing with Alderman Cullertorrs father Thomas Cullerton, a member of the Cullerton family has served orv the ^caao Crfy Council for 111 of the past 134 years. Thankfully, members of the Cullerton farnrty currently serve the City of Chicago in other capacities, and the C.^ .hopes to benefit from the Cullerton family's strong work ethic, dedication pnd talents for many years to cpme; and
: WHEREAS, Alderman Cullerton has served with distinction on many Chicago City Council committees, including, most recently, as a member of the Committee on Zoning, Landmarks and Building Standards;. Committee ^rr Housing and Real Estate; Committee on Committees, Rules and Ethics Committee oh Transportation and Public Way; Committee on the Budget and Government Operatidns; Committee on Aviation; and Committee pn EcpnorYi.c, Capital and Technology Development; now, therefore,
^ BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this sixth day of May, 2015, do hereby extend to Alderman Timothy M. Cullerton our heartfelt gratitude and thank? for h»s^any years of exceptional service to the people of Chicago, and our best wishes for continued success in all of his future endeavors; and
