WHEREAS, Michael R. Quinlan has been living an extraordinary life in Chicago for seventy years, and
WHEREAS, Michael R. Quinlan received his bachelor's degree in philosophy from Loyola University Chicago's Water Tower Campus in 1967, and
WHEREAS, Michael R. Quinlan received his master's of business administration degree from Loyola University Chicago's Water Tower Campus in 1970, and
WHEREAS, Michael R. Quinlan celebrates life and embodies the Jesuit values of Loyola University Chicago each day with his wife Marilyn, his two sons, his daughter-in-law, and his two grandchildren, and
WHEREAS, Michael R. Quinlan began his career at McDonald's Corporation, a Chicago-based institution, in 1963 and ascended through the ranks to hold the positions of President, Chief Executive Officer, and Chairman ofthe Board, and
WHEREAS, Michael R. Quinlan led the McDonald's Corporation to more than 34,000 locations in 118 countries, introduced the Ronald McDonald House, served as Chairman of Ronald McDonald House Charities, and became the first international restaurant sponsor ofthe Olympics and the Olympic Village before retiring in 2002, and
WHEREAS, Michael R. Quinlan has remained committed to his Alma Mater and its Jesuit-Catholic mission of service and excellence, and
WHEREAS, Michael R. Quinlan has served on Loyola University Chicago's volunteer Board of Trustees since 1983 and as its Chairman from 1999-2013, and
WHEREAS, Michael R. Quinlan has generously given his name to the Michael R. and Marilyn C. Quinlan Life Sciences Education and Research Center on December 3, 2004, and
WHERAS, Michael R. Quinlan has generously given his name to the Loyola University Chicago Quinlan School of Business, one of the most prestigious business programs in the State of Illinois, and
WHEREAS, the new building that is home to the Quinlan School of Business overlooks both a McDonald's restaurant and the Loyola University Chicago Water Tower Campus, and
WHEREAS, Michael R. Quinlan will be honored as the 800 to 860 block of North State Street is renamed "Michael R. Quinlan Way"; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council assembled here this 24th day of September, 2015 does hereby join with the family and many friends of Michael R. Quinlan in celebrating his accomplishments and civic generosity, the renaming of his honorary street, and his exemplary life, and
