MEMORIAL RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, On Wednesday, October 21, 2015, Denise Demaryl Perkins, a highly respected citizen and beloved friend, was called home to eternal rest by her Lord God and Savior; and

 

WHEREAS, Queena Dolores Perkins and Isaac Perkins, residents in the great city of Chicago, became the proud parents of their loving daughter Denise on May 16, 1972. Denise and her younger sister, Debra were pampered and nurtured in a loving environment and brought laughter into the Perkins Family home; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her transition by the Honorable Michelle A. Harris, Alderman of the 8th Ward, and the Chairman of the Committee on Committees, Rules and Ethics; and

 

WHEREAS, Denise attended John Harvard Elementary School, graduated from South Shore High School and Columbia College. She began her career in education at Loop Learning Center as a summer camp counselor. Denise worked at the Latin School of Chicago, Francis Xavier Warde School and at her most recent position at St. Sylvester School as a computer teacher. Her joy was her job and the interaction with the students, the posting of pictures and fixing up her classroom; and

 

WHEREAS, A cherished friend and a good neighbor, Denise Demaryl Perkins had enriched the lives of the young and the old. She will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her; and

 

WHEREAS, Denise will be deeply missed by all and especially by those who shared her warmth and compassion. The loving memories of cherished times will help sustain her family and friends through this difficult period of time; and

 

WHEREAS, Denise Demaryl Perkins was the loving and devoted daughter of Queena and Isaac Perkins, sister of Debra, niece of Rosie Britten and Anna Lee, special relative of other family members and a wonderful friend of many; now, therefore,

 

Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this eighteenth day of November 2015 A.D., do hereby express our sorrow on the passing of Denise Demaryl Perkins and extend to her family and friends our deepest sympathy.
