RESOLUTION HONORING CRAIG GILMORE
ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT
WHEREAS, Congratulations are extended to Craig Gilmore on his retirement after a long and distinctive career with the Insurance and Financial Services industry; and
WHEREAS, Craig Gilmore, Zone Director, Multi-cultural Markets for State Farm Insurance Companies, is a product of the Chicago Public school system; and
WHEREAS, Thirty-five years ago Craig began his career in the Insurance and Financial Services industry. He created and lead State Farm's ethnic marketing initiative for the state of Illinois in 1998, and held that position until he was promoted to Director, Multi-Cultural Markets for the Great Lakes Zone; and
WHEREAS, Craig is a vital and active member of the Bloomington, Illinois chapter of the NAACP and recipient of the Roy Wilkins Award 2004; a member of the Chicago Urban League where he received the "Beautiful People " award for his community service. He is a 2004 recipient of the Monarch Award for public service presented by the Chicago Alumni chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. In 2007 Craig was selected to be a member of the inaugural class of the Chicago Defender Newspaper's 50 Men of Excellence. In 2012 the Illinois State University Black Colleagues Association with its Vanguard Award honored him for his support of ISUBCA activities. In 2010 his fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha honored him by naming him one of the Seven Corporate Brothers "making a difference"; and
WHEREAS, Craig Gilmore has served on numerous boards and has applied himself with rare energy and intelligence to all of them, currently the 100 Black Men of Chicago - Board Chair; Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago - VP Strategic Planning; National African American Insurance Association - Vice President; Loretto Hospital Foundation; Cook County State's Attorney African-American Advisory Council; Clear Channel Community Advisory Council and Black Creativity Advisory Council; 2008-11, Alpha Kappa Alpha Educational Advancement Advisory Committee; 2006-09 Chair of the Chicago Council on Urban Affairs -Board Chair, and 2003-2008 Real Men Cook For Charity; and
WHEREAS, Craig Gilmore has been a valued employee and his hard work and diligence will be missed by his friends and co-workers; and
WHEREAS, The leaders of this great City of Chicago are cognizant of the great debt owed public servants such as Craig Gilmore; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council gathered here this thirteenth day of March 2013, do hereby offer our heartiest congratulations to Craig Gilmore on the occasion of his retirement and offer our most sincere wishes for his continued fulfillment in whatever endeavors he chooses to pursue in the future.
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented
