RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, LSL Industries, Inc., located at 5535 North Wolcott in the 40^tn Ward in the City of Chicago is a medical supply manufacturer that specializes in surgical and medical instruments and materials as well as disposable kits for hospitals and distributors; and

WHEREAS, LSL Industries was founded in 1985 by Ash Luthra, its President and CEO, and his brother V.J. Luthra; and

WHEREAS, In October 2012, Ash Luthra and LSL Industries were selected by the U.S. Department of Commerce's Minority Business Development Agency to receive the Minority Manufacturer of the Year Award, an award that was created to pay tribute to minority entrepreneurs who have demonstrated industry leadership, business success, economic impact and community involvement; and

WHEREAS, Ash Luthra currently serves as a Board member on the National Advisory Council for Minority Business Enterprises, formed by the Obama Administration to provide advice and recommendations to The Secretary of Commerce and the administration on a broad range of policy issues affecting the minority business community as part of the Obama administration's focus on creating new jobs and strengthening the U.S. economy; and

WHEREAS, He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Healthcare Industry Supply Chain Institute, and the Development Council of Advocate Lutheran General Hospital; and

WHEREAS, Ash Luthra also actively supports various charities in and around Chicago - as well as in other parts of the U.S. and internationally, including a physical therapy clinic in Delhi, India, specifically for seniors with low incomes; and

WHEREAS, On December 6, 2012, during the 30^th Anniversary Minority Enterprise Development Week Conference, that took place in Washington, D.C., an award was presented to Ash Luthra as the Minority Manufacturer of the Year; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members ofthe City Council ofthe City of Chicago gathered here this seventeenth day of January, 2013, do hereby congratulate Ash Luthra and LSL Industries on this prestigious award; and
