Ladies and Gentlemen:
I transmit herewith, together with Aldermen Osterman and Silverstein, a congratulatory resolution concerning the Warren Park Junior League team.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Warren Park Youth Baseball Little League is a non-profit, parent-run organization chartered by Little League International. Warren Park Baseball is the largest Little League organization in the City of Chicago, and, in partnership with the Chicago Park District, offers competitive baseball and softball leagues for over 600 players and 54 teams, for boys and girls aged 4-15; and
WHEREAS, Based in Warren Park on Chicago's far north side, Warren Park Youth Baseball Little League provides quality youth baseball programming focused on sportsmanship and player development; and
WHEREAS, The Warren Park Warriors is a post-season tournament team that selects players from Warren Park Youth Baseball Little League, and offers a competitive team experience for talented and committed players. The Warriors' 14-and-under team competes in Little League's Junior League; and
WHEREAS, Under head coach Joe Perona, the Junior League Warren Park Warriors baseball team achieved extraordinary success in its 2018 season, including competing in the 2018 Junior League World Series in Taylor, Michigan; and
WHEREAS, In order to earn their spot in the Junior League World Series, the Warren Park Warriors won the Illinois Junior League Championship in Sterling, Illinois, on July 30, 2018, and then went on to triumph over eight other state champion teams from across the Central States to win the Junior League Regional title in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on August 9, 2018; and
WHEREAS, The Junior League World Series is a double-elimination tournament among six regional championship teams from across the United States, as well as six International Division teams from Mexico, Aruba, Italy, Australia, China, and Canada; and
WHEREAS, Playing as the USA Central team, the Warriors made a strong showing in the tournament, eliminating Michigan District 5 and USA East from the competition, as well as defeating the National Championship team from Australia. When the dust settled, the Warriors ultimately finished third among USA Junior League teams; and
WHEREAS, The members of this year's Warren Park Warriors team are Wyatt Attkisson, Jake Bleeden, Nate Dancer, Gabe Essex, Will Geiger, Zach Janes, Ollie Lopeztello, Vince Moncher, Joseph Perona, Tommy Turner, Alex Vasquez, and KeSean Watson. The Warriors were led by head coach Joe Perona and assistant coaches Brett Geiger, Vince Vasquez, and Greg Janes; and
WHEREAS, All of Chicago is tremendously proud of the hard work and commitment of the Warriors' players, coaches, and their families in making the 2018 Junior League season a resounding success; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this fourteenth day of November, 2018, do hereby congratulate the Warren Park Warriors on their successful baseball season; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to each of these exemplary players and coaches as a token of our esteem and of our best wishes for continued success on and off the field of play.
