CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO THE 2011 BNA TRAINING PROGRAM GRADUATES
WHEREAS, On Friday, February 18, 2011 the Phalanx Family Services hosted a gala reception for the Basic Nursing Assistant Training Program graduates of February 2011 at the Beverly Woods Restaurant and Banquet Hall, 11532 South Western Avenue; and
WHEREAS, Phalanx defined is: "a compact or close-knit group". Phalanx Family Service's mission is to assist economically disadvantaged children and families in the pursuit of self-sufficiency. Phalanx Family Services builds emotionally healthy, self-sufficient families in a community in which they can thrive. Basic Nursing Assistants Training is a program sponsored by Phalanx Family Services; and
WHEREAS, The Basic Nursing Assistants Training Program prepares students for an entry-level career in healthcare. Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation is taken as a separate unit where the student receives certification in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers and First Aid; and
WHEREAS, The February 2011 Graduating Class consisted of eighteen students, Antoinette Abney, Maria Benavente, Joane Brooks, Tasha Coates, Toni Colon, Phynise Conner, Sederica Frazier, Shawnta Grace, Rachelle Harris, Ashley Howell, Constance Johnson, Lakeisha Massey, Shakira Partee, Adrienne Phillips Tamika Robinson, Lurita Shalor, Tilia Tillman and Sharita Walker; and
WHEREAS, Each student received awards and honors in such categories as: Outstanding Clinical Performance, the recipients are: Tasha Coates, Phynise Conner and Lurita Shalor; Empathy, the recipients are: Antoinette Abney, Maria Venavente, Joane Brooks, Tasha Coates, Toni Colon, Phynise Conner, Sederica Frazier, Shawnta Grace, Rachelle Harris, Ashley Howell, Constance Johnson, Lakeisha Massey, Shakira Partee, Adrienne Phillips, Tamika Robinson, Lurita Shalor, Tilia Tillman and Sharita Walker; Leadership, the recipients are: Antoinette Abney Phynise Conner, Constance Johnson, Shakira Partee, Tamika Robinson, Lurita Shalor and Tilia Tillman; Perfect Attendance, the recipients are: Antoinette Abney, Constance Johnson and Lakeisha Massey and for Academic Excellence, the recipients are: Phynise Conner, Ashley Howell and Constance Johnson; and
WHEREAS, The Basic Nursing Assistant Training program is staffed by Ms. Anita Cavers, Program Coordinator; Ms. Rosie Akins, Theory/Clinical Instructor and Ms. Gloria Barnes, Theory/Clinical Instructor; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Carrie M. Austin, Alderman of the 34th Ward has informed this august body of this auspicious occasion; and
WHEREAS, The February 2011 BNA graduating class represent the finest standards ofthe citizens of this great city of Chicago, in whom its leaders place so much hope and trust; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this thirteenth day of April, 2011, do hereby offer our heartiest congratulations to each graduate and extend to these fine citizens our best wishes for a bright, happy, and prosperous future.
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation to the February 2011 BNA graduates.
