RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the 34th annual Chicago Music Awards program and celebration took place on Sunday, March 15, 2015, at the Copernicus Center; and
WHEREAS, the Chicago Music Awards honor local entertainers and performers in every genre from classical to hip hop, from polka to reggae; and
WHEREAS, this year's Chicago Music Awards were produced by native Chicagoans Tina Weisinger and Amberr Washington; and
WHEREAS, these two extraordinary women combine an array of talents and skills as broad as the range of entertainment covered by the awards; and
WHEREAS, Tina Weisinger is a gifted producer and talent manager. As founder of Dream Entertainment Management, she specializes in matching the right project to the right talent. Her clients have appeared in films such as Get On Up and Tyler Perry's Love Thy Neighbor, and in television series including Shameless and The Mindy Project. Locally, she has produced stage versions of A Raisin in the Sun, For Colored Girls Only, as well as the Annual Major Adams Awards Gala; in Los Angeles she has produced the NAACP ACT-SO Awards Ceremony and the NAACP Theatre Awards; and
WHEREAS, Amberr Washington is vice-president of Am Vic Entertainment and president of AWE Enterprises. She has had success as a hip-hop artist in the group Mrs. Two & The Crew and as a choreographer for live performances, television and live theater. Having earned a bachelor's degree in Motion Picture Production and Cinematography from Columbia College (Chicago), she has earned film credits as cinematographer, producer and/or director in numerous films, including Soid Ties, Into the Woods, The Hustle, Redrum, Faithless, Method, J-POW, Create and Destroy, Gone for Good, Unyielding Ties, Bedtime, Stardom, American Like, Why Me?, A Surfer's Life and Stepping from Chicago to Miami. As part of the marketing firm e2amp Inc. in Los Angeles, Amberr has he has also become active in marketing for such prominent firms as Disney, Lions Gate, Columbia TriStar, Lotus Cars and JVC; and
WHEREAS, later this year, these two amazing women will collaborate in producing the first annual NAACP Music Awards; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has been informed of all the foregoing by the Honorable Walter Burnett, Alderman of the 27lh Ward; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED that we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this 18th day of March, 2015, do hereby congratulate Tina Weisinger and Amberr Washington for their successful production of the 34th Chicago Music Awards; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we extend to them our most sincere wishes for continued success in all their future efforts; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that suitable copies of this Resolution be presented to Tina Weisinger and Amberr Washington as a token of our esteem and sign of our best wishes.
