RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, after serving 30 years of outstanding and meritorious service to the residents of the City of Chicago, Miguel A. Vargas will retire from his position as Supervisor with the Chicago Department of Transportation ("CDOT"); and
WHEREAS, this esteemed body has been notified of Miguel A. Vargas's accomplishments by the Honorable Roberto Maldonado, Alderman of the 26lh Ward; and
WHEREAS, as a Public Way Inspector from 1989 to 2019, Miguel A. Vargas has diligently served thousands of citizens and numerous public officials throughout the entire city; and
WHEREAS, in 1989 Miguel A. Vargas began his career with CDOT as an Engineer for the Public Way, responsible for safeguarding the public way infrastructure including construction, maintenance and management; and
WHEREAS, Miguel A. Vargas then served as an Inspector at the Northwestern District, ensuring safe construction sites for the citizens of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, due to his dedication and commitment, CDOT promoted Miguel A. Vargas to Field Supervisor in 2005 where he proudly served in that position for fifteen years; and
WHEREAS, on January 31, 2019, Miguel A. Vargas is retiring after 30 years of providing safe work zones throughout the various neighborhoods of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Miguel A. Vargas has earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the citizens of Chicago and will be deeply missed by all; and
WHEREAS, Miguel A. Vargas's commitment to our communities and his drive to help others is not only inspirational but also deserving of recognition. He is a great asset and a true leader in the City of Chicago; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this twenty-third day of January 2019, do hereby recognize, commemorate and celebrate the dedication and commitment Miguel A. Vargas has demonstrated to the City of Chicago.
