RESOLUTION

 

WHEREAS, The Hoyne Park Expos were the winners of the 2017 Summer Omega Delta Baseball League championship, and the Hoyne Park Dodgers were the winners of the 2017 Fall Omega Delta Baseball League championship; and

WHEREAS, This esteemed body has been informed of these notable achievements by the Honorable Toni Foulkes, Alderman of the 16th Ward; and

WHEREAS, The summer of 2006 marked the inaugural season for the Omega Delta Youth Baseball League, Inc., (ODYBL) at Hoyne Park Playground, which is located at 3417 S. Hamilton in the McKinley Park community on the southwest side of Chicago; and

WHEREAS, The ODYBL was established by five members of the Omega Delta National Fraternity, with the goal of goal is to continually striving to provide a safe, organized, competitive and fun baseball league for kids; and

WHEREAS, All of the members of both teams showed great sportsmanship and commitment to to baseball, demonstrating determination on and off of the field; and

WHEREAS, The teammates showed the highest character during the championship, working together towards success; and

WHEREAS, The Hoyne Park Expos team members include: Juan Barajas, Takiyah Coates, Tavarez Coates, Esteban Gasca, Hector Gonzalez, Ria Medina, Ivan Nunez, Anthony Ramirez, Andres Rodriguez, Adrian Rodriguez, Lily Rodriguez, Oswaldo Saavedra and Dante Santacruz; and

WHEREAS, The Hoyne Park Dodgers team members include: Juan Barajas, Hector Carrasco, Jacob Elias, Esteban Gasca, Hector Gonzalez, Paco Lopez, Ria Medina, Ivan Nunez, Anthony Ramirez, Adan Ruiz, Anthony Salgado and Dante Santacruz; and

WHEREAS, The teams were led by a talented coaching staff including head coach, Ivery Williams and assistant coaches, James Williams, Jamar Williams, Jose Gasca, Alphonso Medina, Tomas Rodriquez and Antonio Ramirez; and

WHEREAS, All of the team's players and coaches demonstrate the spirit of teamwork and camaraderie in athletics; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this thirteenth day of December, 2017, do hereby congratulate the Hoyne Park Expos and the Hoyne Park Dodgers on their championship seasons and do hereby wish them all good health, happiness and much success in the years to come.
