MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR SHEILA MCNULTY

WHEREAS, In November 2019, our City lost a special soul when longtime resident, Sheila McNulty (known to some as "Mrs. Gams") made her transition; and

WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of her passing by the Honorable James M. Gardiner, Alderman ofthe 45th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Sheila and John McNulty, her husband of 51 years, are an inspiration to all who know them; and

WHEREAS, From the moment Sheila and John met, they knew they were perfect for each other, becoming engaged just 3 months after meeting; and

WHEREAS, Sheila's hunger to serve others was immeasurable, teaching 2nd and 3rd grade students in both the Catholic and public school system, and upon retirement, volunteering her time as a librarian at St. Bartholomew; and

WHEREAS, Sheila's desire to reach a broader audience of children motivated her to create an internet radio show known as "Mrs. Gams Storytime" and she would then accept phone calls answering questions from curious children about the chosen story; and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to her faith, Sheila was a parishioner at St. Bartholomew for nearly 50 years, where she started a Women's Club and would coordinate a monthly breakfast at the 45th Ward's very own Lucky Grill Restaurant; and

WHEREAS, Sheila was a beloved wife of John, loving mother of John Jr. (Michelle), Dan (Colleen), and Tricia (Paul) Wisniewski, proud grandmother of Denny, Allison, John, Jimmy, Katherine, Delia, Florence, Bud, and Olive, and dear sister of Peggy (Tom) Vicek, and Kathy Mullen; and

WHEREAS, The City of Chicago is eternally grateful to Sheila for her unending desire to serve others, and humbled by her gracious aura; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this fifteenth day of January 2020, do hereby extend our most heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Sheila McNulty; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Sheila McNulty as a sign of our honor, gratitude, and respect.
