Memorial Resolution for Paulette Wilks
WHEREAS, Paulette Wilks was called to her final resting place on Saturday, June 29, 2016; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed body has been notified of Paulette Wilks's death by the Honorable Alderman Emma Mitts of the 37th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Paulette Wilks was born on June 2, 1946 to Isabel and Frank James Rush in Chicago, one of eight children; and
WHEREAS, Paulette attended Carter Harrison High School in Chicago's Little Village Neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, Paulette was married to the love of her life, Ronald Wilkes. They were married for 42 years and blessed to raise 7 children; and
WHEREAS, Paulette joined the Rising Sun Missionary Baptist Church in 1958, later moving to Christian Love Missionary Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, In 1995 she became the First Lady of the Soul Saving Missionary Baptist Church where her husband, Rev. Dr. Ronald Wilkes, was pastor. Paulette was the Choir Director, a Sunday school teacher, Youth Supervisor and a member of the Sunlight District Ministers Wives; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Wilks was a homemaker who loved to sew. She was a diva known for her pendants and rhinestones. She had a heart of gold and if complimented on a piece of jewelry, would offer to give it to the person; and
WHEREAS, Paulette Wilks's sister, Terri Ann Jones preceded her in death; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Wilks leaves to cherish her memory: her loving and dedicated husband Ronald Wilks; five daughters: Jacqueline (Woodrow), Charlene (Adewale), Yolanda, Carla and Erica, all of Chicago; two sons: Kenneth Campbell (Misty) of Iowa and Dwight (Lakeitha) of Texas; a loving mother: Isabel! Williams; four sisters: Diane, Irma, Barbara (Jerry) and Cheryl, all of Chicago; two brothers: Harvey and Larry (Patricia), all of Chicago; one brother-in-law: Billy of Mississippi; seventeen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three special godchildren: Mae, Kimberly and Tommy; and nieces, nephews, family and friends; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this twentieth day of July, 2016, do hereby express our sorrow on the passing of Paulette Wilks and extend to her family our sincere condolences; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Paulette Wilks.
