Be It Ordained by the City Council of the City of Chicago:
SECTION 1. Permission and authority are hereby given and granted to JOHN D.& CATHERINE T. MACARTHUR FOUNDATION, upon the terms and subject to the conditions of this ordinance to maintain and use, as now constructed, three (3) Cornice(s) projecting over the public right-of-way adjacent to its premises known as 140 S. Dearborn St
Said Cornice(s) at W. Adams measure(s):
One (1) at one hundred twenty-eight point three three (128.33) feet in length, and six point three one (6.31) feet in width for a total of eight hundred nine point seven six (809.76) square feet.
Said Cornice(s) at S. Dearborn measure(s):
One (1) at two hundred point one (200.1) feet in length, and six point three one (6.31) feet in width for a total of one thousand two hundred sixty-two point six three (1262.63) square feet.
Said Cornice(s) at Public Alley (East-West) measure(s):
One (1) at forty-seven point two five (47.25) feet in length, and six point three one (6.31) feet in width for a total of two hundred ninety-eight point one five (298.15) square feet.
Existing cornices are approximately two hundred forty (240) feet above grade level.
The location of said privilege shall be as shown on prints kept on file with the Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection and the Office of the City Clerk.
Said privilege shall be constructed in accordance with plans and specifications approved by the Department of Transportation (Division of Project Development).
This grant of privilege in the public way shall be subject to the provisions of Section 10-28-015 and all other required provisions of the Municipal Code of Chicago.
The grantee shall pay to the City of Chicago as compensation for the privilege #1103226 herein granted the sum of four hundred ($400.00) per annum in advance.
A 25% penalty will be added for payments received after due date.
The permit holder agrees to hold the City of Chicago harmless for any damage, relocation or replacement costs associated with damage, relocation or removal of private property caused by the City performing work in the public way.

Be It Ordained by the City Council of the City of Chicago:
SECTION 1. Permission and authority are hereby given and granted to EAST-WEST UNIVERSITY, upon the terms and subject to the conditions of this ordinance to maintain and use, as now constructed, one (1) Vault(s) under the public right-of-way adjacent to its premises known as 816 S. Michigan Avenue. Existing subsurface space (vault) along the west side of South Michigan Avenue between East 8th Street and East 9th Street, which is contiguous to and extends east of the building line of the Olivetti Building located at 816 South Michigan Avenue. Said subsurface space consists a strip approximately sixteen and five tenths (16.5) feet wide, extending immediate east from the Olivetti Building line, being approximately forty-eight and two-tenth (48.2) feet in length along South Michigan Avenue, containing a total of approximately seven hundred ninety-nine (799) gross square feet, of which approximately seven hundred eighty (780) square feet is useable. Existing subsurface space is used to house mechanical equipment for the sprinkler system and as storage area for typewriters.
The location of said privilege shall be as shown on prints kept on file with the Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection and the Office of the City Clerk.
Said privilege shall be constructed in accordance with plans and specifications approved by the Department of Transportation (Office of Underground Coordination).
This grant of privilege in the public way shall be subject to the provisions of Section 10-28-015 and all other required provisions of the Municipal Code of Chicago.
The grantee shall pay to the City of Chicago as compensation for the privilege #1103422 herein granted the sum of one thousand three hundred fifty-four ($1,354.00) per annum in advance.
A 25% penalty will be added for.payments received after due date.
The permit holder agrees to hold the City of Chicago harmless for any damage, relocation or replacement costs associated with damage, relocation or removal of private property caused by the City performing work in the public way.

The applicant referenced above has requested the use of the public right-of-way for a vault(s). An ordinance has been prepared by the Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection - Business Assistance Center - Public Way Use Unit for presentation to the City Council. Because this request was made for properties located in your ward, as approved by you as per the attached, I respectfully request that you introduce the attached ordinance at the next City Council meeting.
