CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF AN EXTRAORDINARY MAN
MR. THOMAS BATTLE, JR.
 
 
 
WHEREAS, on Saturday, February 23,2013, Mr. Thomas Battle, Jr., answered his Redeemer's call, "Come for I have prepared a place specifically for thee, an arena designed with emblems of your favorite sports teams in every inch ofthe room." As the tears fell from the eyes of Mr. Thomas Battle, Jr., he stretched forth his right hand to connect with his Lord and Savior. The Angels in Heaven shouted, "Glory to God, Thomas is finally coining home!" and
 
WHEREAS, the scriptures tell us that "the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord." Mr. Thomas Battle, Jr., fits the biblical description perfectly. His lifestyle exemplified one as having a relationship with the Father. Without disinclination, Mr. Battle liberally gave of himself so that others could benefit from the blessings of his labor. Mr. Battle, "Thank you for teaching us the true meaning of perseverance;" and
 
WHEREAS, at this moment, I speak with great confidence, when I say, "Mr. Thomas Battle, Jr. was fhe quintessence of a true, Saved, Sanctified and Spirit-filled Man of God." His temperament exemplified David, he spoke with authority like Paul and his faith was like Abraham. Truly he was more than just a "Hearer of the Word, he was also a Follower of the Word; and
WHEREAS, we have cried many nights for just another opportunity to spend time with Mr. Thomas Battle, Jr., but the Word of God reassures us that one day soon we shall see him again; and
WHEREAS, his memories will be cherished by his two devoted and beloved sisters, Carrie M. Austin (Lemuel-deceased) and Veola Battle, a very special sister and brother, Dianne Turner and Aaron (Akna) Irving, seven children, Jerry Battle (LaDonna), Pearl Battle, Kirk Robinson (Pamela), Vernastine (Cornelius) Myers, Thomas Battle Jr. III., Diane Battle and Ryan Billings. A special brother and sister, Ronald and Barbara Washington (Florida); fourteen grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, great nieces, great nephews, a host of relatives and many friends who loved him dearly; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and members of the Chicago Aldermanic Black Caucus will assemble together on the 13th Day of March, 2013, A.D., to partake in the homegoing celebration of Mr. Thomas Battle, Jr. and extend to bis family, friends and associates their sincere condolences; and
 
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Mr. Thomas Battle, Jr.
