MEMORIAL RESOLUTION HONORING THE LIFE OF RICHARD K. RICHARDSON
WHEREAS, Richard K. Richardson, incredible leader, family man, friend, and mentor, passed away on November 18, 2022, at the age of 73; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of Richard's passing by the Honorable Stephanie D. Coleman, Alderman ofthe 16th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Richard began his higher education at Malcolm X College, earning an Associate of Arts Degree and was involved in student government, before moving on to Northeastern University to study education and natural sciences; and
WHEREAS, Richard continued his education later in life, earning a Master's Degree in Administration and Supervision from Roosevelt University; and
WHEREAS, Richard put his education to use, giving back to his community by working as an administrator at Chicago Public Schools for 16 years, including several years as principal of Charles R. Henderson Elementary School; and
WHEREAS, Always dedicated to service, Richard remained involved in Chicago Public Schools sports programs after his retirement; and
WHEREAS, Richard was also a member ofthe Salem Baptist Church of Chicago, serving as part of the security ministry, and was a committed member of Touch Heart Ministry, which is a charitable organization focused on direct service in the name of God including visiting nursing homes and hospitals, providing groceries for families in need, and much more; and
WHEREAS, Richard's lifetime of service made a lasting impact in his community, and will be missed by all those who knew and loved him; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this fourteenth day of December, 2022, do hereby extend our most heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Richard K. Richardson; and
