Junior Bear Tackle Football Program Champions - Fosco Park Chargers
WHEREAS, Junior Bear Football is a Chicago Park District tackle football program that has been impacting youth across the City of Chicago since 1948, currently serving children ages 8-13 from 20 locations spanning across the entire city of Chicago, and expanding to nearly 1,000 participants across all 20 locations; and
WHEREAS, on October 23, 2014, the 66th Annual Mum Bowl took place at historic Soldier Field with the Fosco Park Chargers facing the 3-time defending champion Washington Redskins, with the Fosco Park Chargers coming out victorious by a score of 14 to 13 after a phenomenal and exciting goal line stand; and
WHEREAS, the Fosco Park Chargers were able to achieve this goal in just their third season in the Junior Bear Football Program; and
WHEREAS, The players ofthe Fosco Park Chargers are Marciano Alvarado, Andre Bridges, Darius Cooper, Lafabain Fain, Omari Gillis, Deondre Gilmore, Amari Hampton, Jaylen Harris, Treville Hilton, Tyrell Hilton, Carlos Ibarra, Solomon Kousame, Jason Moore, Andrew Nabors, Thomas Peace and Aaron Pernell, Jaden Stewart, Raymond Walson, Jermiah Webb, Maurtice Williams, Montese Winchester and Kareem Wright; and
WHEREAS, these young men proved their teamwork and dedication, demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship and cooperation with one another, and making their community tremendously proud of their accomplishments both on the field and off; and
WHEREAS, the Fosco Park Chargers Parent Club provided support to the team by volunteering time, fundraising, displaying great sportsmanship, and providing positive adult role models for the players; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council would also like to recognize the Chicago Park District General Superintendent Mike Kelly, Chief Program Officer Vaughn Bryant, Assistant Director of Recreation Tim O'Connell, Health and Physical Activities Manager Adrian Loza, Program and Event Coordinator and Commissioner Roberto Lugo, Jr., Head Coach and Park Supervisor Obi Allmon, Assistant Coach and Physical Instructor Jason Young, Cheerleading Coach Lashonda Francellno, Area Manager Elizabeth Garza and Central Region Manager Art Richardson for their commitment to Chicago's youth through the administration of Junior Bear Football; and
WHEREAS, this resolution is brought before this esteemed body by the Honorable Alderman Daniel Solis, of the 25th Ward and he joins the entire Chicago City Council in honoring these players, coaches and Chicago Park District administrators for their achievements; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, that, we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the city of Chicago gathered here this twenty first day of January, 2015, do hereby recognize the Fosco Park Chargers honoring their champion status in the Junior Bear Football program; and
Be It Further Resolved, that suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the champion players of the Fosco Park Chargers.
