A TRIBUTE TO THE LIFE OF TERRENCE JEROME CAIN

 

 

 

WHEREAS, On January 21, 1967 in Chicago, Illinois, Terrence Jerome Cain was born from the union of Betty Brown-Johnson and Hardy Williams. He attended Our Lady of Pompeii Elementary School, Proviso East High School, and the City Colleges of Chicago, and

WHEREAS; as a child Terrence worshiped with his family at United Baptist Church officiated by Reverend Wilson Daniels, and

WHEREAS, it was at this church that Terrence initially honed his musical skills which were vehemently praised at an early age, and

WHEREAS, Terrence was known for having two different careers. He worked for the City of Chicago's Department of Streets & Sanitation for over 28 years. He was a proud union man just like his father before him, and

WHEREAS, His other career, the one he loved, was in the world of entertainment. Terrence was an internationally known singer, songwriter, musician and producer, and

WHEREAS, Terrence, also known as "T.Cain", had a voice like no other. He could sing anything from Classical to House. He worked with legends such as Patti Labelle, Phyllis Hyman, Luther Vandross, Anita Baker, Brian McKnight and a host of other renowned artists. At social occasions Terrence would spontaneously break out in song and stop the conversation in the room because ofthe beauty and power of his voice, and

 

WHEREAS, Terrence was known for his unique personality and spirit! He would walk into a room declaring "The King Is Here, Bow Down". He was also known to be a person who would tell you the truth whether you liked it or not. And many people asked for his opinion because of

that, and

WHEREAS, He was a devout animal lover. He rescued countless animals and found forever homes for them. He also bred and trained Bull Terriers, and

WHEREAS, on April 24, 2017 Terrence Jerome Cain passed away after a long illness leaving his beloved children, Rebekah, Nolan and Terrence Jr,; his grandson Noah; his parents, siblings and extended family members and friends, and

WHEREAS, the City Council of Chicago has been informed ofthe passing of Terrence J. Cain by the Honorable Leslie A. Hairston, Alderman of the Fifth Ward, now therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council do hereby honor the life and memory of Terrence Jerome Cain and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family; and
