A RESOLUTION HONORING EAST LAKE VIEW NEIGHBORS AND THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY

OF ITS OKTOBERFEST CELEBRATION

 

WHEREAS, East Lake View Neighbors is a community organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life in the neighborhood through active citizenship, fostering a sense of community and charitable works; and

 

WHEREAS, East Lake View Neighbors' boundaries stretch from Addison Street north to Irving Park, and from Clark Street east to Lake Michigan; and

 

WHEREAS, East Lake View Neighbors meets monthly to discuss community happenings, including new business openings, public safety, volunteer opportunities and more; and

 

WHEREAS, 13 residents comprise of East Lake View Neighbors' Board of Directors, who are pulled from a cross-section of the community, including residents, business owners, and employees; and

 

WHEREAS, on September 23, 2018, East Lake View Neighbors will host its 20th annual 'Oktoberfest' celebration; and

 

WHEREAS, roughly 300 neighbors attend the annual event at Murphy's Bleachers on 3655 N Sheffield Ave, and the event raises money for the local community; and

 

WHEREAS, for $30, attendees enjoy Oktoberfest Beer, Wine, and Sodas, a Pig Roast, Grilled Chicken, Grilled Vegetables & Brats, German Potato Salad & Dessert as well as the chance to win many prizes at the silent auction; and

 

WHEREAS, Auction items in a number of price ranges are available, with past items including Sports, Concert & Theater tickets, rooftop baseball game passes, autographed sports memorabilia, spa services, museum tours, boat cruises, restaurant & pet care gift certificates, jewelry, & many more.

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this twentieth day of September, 2018, do hereby express our gratitude and our heartiest congratulations to East Lake View Neighbors for its continuous work to improve the lives of East Lake View residents and wishes the 5» organization a successful 20th annual Oktoberfest celebration.
