MEMORIAL RESOLUTION CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF FELICIA LUCAS-MILES
WHEREAS, Felicia Lucas-Miles, wife, mother, daughter, aunt, cousin, and friend, passed away on March 11, 2022, at 52 years of age; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of Felicia's passing by the Honorable Stephanie D. Coleman, Alderman ofthe 16th Ward and the Honorable David Moore, Alderman ofthe 17th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Felicia, affectionately known as "FeFe," was born in Chicago, IL on June 6, 1969 to the union of Freddie Lucas and Rose Mane Stanton; Felicia accepted Christ and was baptized at the tender age of nine at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. J.J. Taylor; Felicia was committed to serving the Lord and remained a faithful member of St. Paul Church, now under the Pastoral Leadership of Dr. Joel D. Taylor and Jasper P. Taylor; and
WHEREAS, A well-loved member of her St. Paul Church, Felicia spoke to everyone who came up those stairs and she served God's people by way of the Pastor Anniversary, Mass Choir, Youth Council, and her beloved Media Ministries; an advocate of education, Felicia was one of the first recipients of the inaugural J.J. Taylor Memorial Scholarship, and not only served in her local jurisdiction of the Baptist Faith, she also served with the National Baptist Convention of America Registration and Connection Teams; and
WHEREAS, Felicia was educated within the public and parochial school systems and spent her early years at Hinton Elementary and St. Leo Catholic Elementary, attended Corliss High School, and proudly graduated from Central State University, one of the Nation's historic Black universities, in Wilberforce, OH in 1991 with a Bachelor's degree in Business; she remained active in both Alumni Chapters of Corliss High School and Central State University; and
WHEREAS, After school, Felicia returned back to Chicago and began her career at the University of Illinois at Chicago where she was a Data Control Analyst and retired from UIC after 30 years in July 2021; as in all areas of her life, no one was a stranger to Felicia and her loud talking and contagious smile won everyone over; and
WHEREAS, Felicia loved the Lord and to stay connected to her Faith, she became a part of the Gospel Music Community and shared her vocal talents with the world in the music ministry of Mark Hubbard and the Voices; she continued to work for her church where, on March 20, 1999, she met the love of her life, WKKC Gospel Radio Personality Reggie Miles and the two became one dynamic spirit on May 1, 2004; to Felicia's and Reggie's union one daughter was born, Morgan Amber Miles; and
WHEREAS, Felicia and Reggie were members of the Chicago Area Gospel Announcers Guild and Felicia's smile, warmth, and genuine spirit supported her husband and the Guild for 20 years; she served the Guild and her church faithfully until the end; and
WHEREAS, Felicia is preceded in death by her step father, Zenophen Staton and one sister, Donetra Roberson; those left to celebrate her life and honor her memory is are "Husband" Reginald Miles (Reggie); daughter, Morgan; Mom and Dad, Rose Stanton and Freddie Lucas (Paulette); sisters Jeanette Henry (Andre), Latosca Warfield (Michael), and Nicole Sampson; sisters in law, Patricia Cook (Aubrey) and Mary Miles; nieces, Zenia Staton, Bronte Henry, and Arie Sampson; nephew, Brandon Henry; great aunt, Clorastine Lucas; Godmother Jackie, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and the entire St. Paul Church family; and
WHEREAS, Felicia will be deeply missed by her.family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this twenty-third day of March, 2022, do hereby extend our most heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Felicia Lucas-Miles; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Felicia Lucas-Miles as a sign of our honor and respect.
