RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Georgia Leese is celebrating her 80th birthday, truly a devoted Chicagoan; and,
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this milestone by Alderman Thomas M. Tunney; and,
WHEREAS Georgia Lewis was born at Augustana Hospital in Lincoln Park, August 27, 1934; and,
WHEREAS Georgia is a proud graduate of O.A. Thorp Elementary School, Alvernia High School, and Chicago Teachers' College; and,
WHEREAS, Georgia married the love of her life, Jack Leese, 59 years ago, they met while they both were working for the Chicago Park District, together they raised their children - Stephanie, and Karen; and,
WHEREAS, beginning her career with the Chicago Public School System at Armstrong Elementary, then onto Audobon Elementary, before moving onto the Northbrook Public School System, Georgia taught 1st and 2nd grade for 33 years, guiding thousands of young pupils through their first years of education and instilling in them the love of knowledge; and,
WHEREAS, as the devoted Grandmother to TJ and Sara, Georgia loves spending time with her grandchildren; and,
WHEREAS, not one to rest on her laurels, Georgia began a second career upon retirement as a weekly volunteer at both the Art Institute of Chicago and the Lincoln Park Zoo; and,
WHEREAS, these days, if Georgia is not spending time with her family, you could find Georgia watching her beloved Chicago Cubs; and,
WHEREAS, Georgia's love of life and her ability to live it to the fullest, endears Georgia to her family, friends, students and all who know her, and enables her to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Mayor and members of the Chicago City Council assembled this thirtieth day of July 2014, do hereby congratulate Georgia Leese on her birthday, and express our best wishes for her continued health, happiness, success and achievement; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Georgia Leese.
