RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Angelo "Albert" Falcione, passed away on Tuesday, January 26th, 2016 in Naples, Florida at the age of 85; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Brendan Reilly, Alderman ofthe 42nd Ward; and

WHEREAS, A native of Herminie, PA. Mr. Falcione's father, Alberto, was a coal miner who would succumb to black lung disease when Angelo was 11 and his mother, Maria, was a homemaker who lived 96 years; and

WHEREAS, In 1947 at the objection of his Mother, he enlisted into the United States Marine Corp. serving three years at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, North Carolina and overseas; and

WHEREAS, Upon his return to Pittsburgh after the service, he worked various jobs before deciding to move to Chicago in the mid 1950's where he began his life-long connection to the hospitality industry; and

WHEREAS, He briefly left Chicago to work at The Dunes in Las Vegas from 1957 to 1960 returning to Chicago to open the country's first "Go-Go" disco tech, an experience he often spoke about; and

WHEREAS, The Bistro A Go-Go was located on Harlem Avenue on Chicago's North side, across the street from the childhood home of Juliet Madro, who would later become Juliet Falcione, Albert's wife of 49 years; and

WHEREAS, As the seventies approached, Albert Falcione chose to leave the nightlife behind to start a family, getting involved in the very popular La Margarita Restaurants opening three locations in the Chicagoland area; and

WHEREAS, After opening Mangia Pizza with his sons in the 1980's, he went on to open another restaurant in East Dundee called "Cha Cha Cha" Mexican Cantina; and

WHEREAS, Albert Falcione will always be remembered for his love of family, golf, Sinatra, wine, his Italian heritage, his Pittsburgh Steelers, his Cubbies, his Cadillacs, and his adopted City of Chicago; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this tenth day of February, 2016, do hereby honor the life and memory of Angelo 'Albert" Falcione; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Angelo "Albert" Falcione as a sign of our sympathy and good wishes.
