MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR CHRIS SEAY, JR.

 

WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that the members of this Chamber learned of the recent passing of Chris Seay, Jr., affectionately known as "Doc;" and

WHEREAS, This esteemed body has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Toni Foulkes, Alderman of the 16th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Chris Seay, Jr. was born to proud parents, Chris Sr. and Ozie M. Seay, on June 16, 1958; and

 

WHEREAS, Doc graduated from Tilden High School in 1976, where he earned his nickname, "Doc" due to his love of basketball; and

 

WHEREAS, Doc went on to work for Florsheim shoe stores, St. Xavier University, Hertz Rental Cars, Ingalls Hospital, and most recently, Loyola University Hospital; and

 

WHEREAS, Doc accepted Christ at an early age, attending Greater Mount Olivet MBC under the leadership of the Rev. Eugene Henley. During his youth he was active in several ministries, and also served on the Junior Usher Board and as the Junior Sunday School Superintendent. He also went on to form a young men's gospel group with his cousin, the late Tommie Seay, Jr.; and

 

WHEREAS, On July 21, 2013, Doc joined the True Foundation Transformation Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Larry A. Brookins, where he was a faithful and devoted member, supporting the Pastoral Care and Youth Ministries; and

 

WHEREAS, Doc leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Ozie; sisters, Debra (Sammie) and Janice (David); brothers, Dwain and Darryl; brother-in-law, Rev. Ellis Robinson, Jr.; nieces, Krystal, T'Juana, Valencia, Mary and De'Ja; nephews, Wayne and Malik; and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Chris Seay, Sr.; sister, Marilyn Seay Robinson; and youngest brother, Kenneth L. Seay; and

 

WHEREAS, Doc touched the lives of all who knew him through his love for sports and passion for Christ. He will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this thirteenth of December, 2017, do hereby extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Chris Seay, Jr.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That suitable copies.of this.resolution are presented to the family of Chris Seay, Jr. as a sign of our honor, gratitude, and.respect. ...
