City Council Meeting November 14,2018
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, God in His infinite wisdom called David Garcia to his eternal reward on October 29, 2018; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Patrick J. O'Connor, Alderman of the 40th Ward; and
WHEREAS, David was born to parents Jose and Paula Garcia on January 13,1932, the third of four children; and
WHEREAS, David was the only boy in the family and had three loving sisters, Natalia, Lupe and Sally; and
WHEREAS, David proudly served his country with dignity for eight years when he started with the Army National Guard and went on to become a Master Sergeant; and
WHEREAS, When David returned home, he went on to receive a Bachelor's Degree in Education and a Master's of Science from the Illinois Teachers College; and
WHEREAS, David was devoted to wanting to help young people and became a teacher in the Chicago Public School System where he spent forty-two years helping to shape the minds of young people and helping to guide them toward good choices, always finding something unique in every one of his students; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of David Garcia serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, David was a lifelong Chicagoan who was well known in his neighborhood and one who enjoyed the vibrancy of the city, a true Bears and Cubs fan; and
WHEREAS, David, who was preceded in death by his wife, Charlie Mae, was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment and will be dearly missed by his two daughters, Gretchen Garcia and Davina Pulliam; granddaughter, Brittany (Caleb) Mercer; grandson, Messiah Cook; sister, Sally Vasquez; and a host of extended family and friends; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this 14th day of November 2018, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of David Garcia and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
