CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO SERGEANT WILLIAM G. LERCH ON RETIREMENT FROM THE CHICAGO POLICE DEPARTMENT

. WHEREAS, On July 7, 2017, Sergeant William G. Lerch retired from.the Chicago Police Department following twenty-five years of dedicated public service; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this occasion by the Honorable Willie B. Cochran, Alderman of the 20^th Ward; and

, WHEREAS, Sergeant William G. Lerch, Star #1721-, retired as a valued member of the 3rd District; and

WHEREAS, Dedication to and fiilfillmerit of the motto of'the Chicago Police Department -"We Serve and Protect" - exacts a substantial physical and emotional toll not only on the. officers who must daily cope with the stress and danger of being life's arbitrator for countless citizens, but also on their family members; and  \ .

WHEREAS,- Throughout, a long and distinguished tenure, Officer William G. Lerch upheld the finest traditions of law enforcement community and his hard work; commitment and dedicationstp.duty earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the communities he protected; and

:    WHEREAS, Sergeant William G. Lerch devoted twenty-five years of his life in public service to the people of the City of Chicago and in doing so. has personally ehsiired that the City . of Chicago is the safe;.healthy and vibrant community it is today; and , <''[

. ■ ,. WHEREAS, The leaders of this great City of Chicago are cognizant of the great debt owed bur public servants, and extend our siricerest gratitude to the long and prolific: career of Police Officer William G. Lerch; now, therefore
