RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, on October 23, 2014, the Almighty God, in his infinite wisdom, called Alfred Deshawn White to his eternal journey; and
WHEREAS, the Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Carrie Austin, Alderman ofthe 34th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Alfred DeShawn White was born on Augsut 31,1982, at Michael Reese Hospital, to the union of Alfred and Annette White; and
WHEREAS, a playful and cheerful child, Alfred grew quickly attached to his sister Crystal, whose nurturing and caring nature played a tremendous role in his personal and emotional growth; and
WHEREAS, Alfred touched the lives of many with his energy and vibrancy, and was beloved by his community and mentors; and
WHEREAS, delighting in competing in Special Olympics Spring Games and excelling in winning many medals for track and field and softball throw, demonstrating that the rewards of dedication will befall all who work hard to achieve success, regardless of limitations; and
WHEREAS, after accepting Christ in May of 2002, Alfred was baptized by Reverend Charles Jenkins of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. He delighted in the grace ofthe Lord, but also in the basic joys of life: music, dancing, movies, and socializing with friends and family, always relishing the company of others; and
WHEREAS, courageous and energetic, with an unbreakable spirit and love for live, he will be remembered by his bright smile and permeable laugh. Alfred will be deeply missed by those he leaves behind, but his memory will carry on in those who love him; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here in assembly this fifth day of November, 2014, do hereby express our sorrow on the passing of Alfred DeShawn White and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Alfred DeShawn White.
