RESOLUTION CELEBRATING THE 35,h ANNIVERSARY OF BISHOP LARRY D. TROTTER
WHEREAS, Bishop Larry D. Trotter, an outstanding spiritual leader and member of his community, is celebrating his 35 years of Ministry at Sweet Holy Spirit Church; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed body has been informed ofthe tremendous contributions Bishop Larry D. Trotter has made and continues to make to his grateful community by the Honorable Carrie M. Austin, Alderman ofthe 34th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Our great city of Chicago is enriched by the presence and inspiring influence of its great religious leaders and institutions; and
WHEREAS, Since 1981, Bishop Larry D. Trotter has provided spiritual empowerment to the congregation of Sweet Holy Spirit Church and beyond. As Bishop Trotter reaches another great milestone, Sweet Holy Spirit Church and its members will honor and celebrate 35 years of "Service to all Mankind" on Friday, October 21, 2016; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Trotter has always been a survivor. Starting with humble beginnings, being raised by a single devoted mother (Dorothy Ernestine Trotter) in the housing projects, into preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ locally and internationally in the uttermost parts of the earth, including 49 ofthe United States of America, 28 different countries, and 6 continents; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Trotter is a dynamic individual whose fervor for the Lord is contagious. His devotion to God is exceeded only by his good works. Under his leadership, the ministry has grown from twenty two members in 1981 to well over seven thousand to date. As an active serviceman, Bishop has participated in a variety of community activities and has cared for over 3K souls; and
WHEREAS, A spiritual leader with inspired and inspiring credentials, Bishop Trotter has countless degrees from his pursuit of higher learning. He holds three honorary doctorates of divinity degrees and one doctorate in ministry. Bishop Trotter was licensed and ordained by both Baptist and Pentecostal denominations where he gained an audience who could appreciate his unique blend; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Trotter shocked the culinary world and Food Network revealing one hundred of his favorite recipes in his first cookbook, "Cooking with the Bishop" in 2014. The Bishop has recorded nine award winning gospel projects on both Tyscot Records and his own label, Utopia Music Group. His lastesttwo projects, "Praise Revisited" and "How Far Back Can You Go Vol. 2-Church Unplugged," are soaring to the top of the charts since the beginning of this 2016 year; and
WHEREAS, Not only is Bishop Trotter a phenomenal powerhouse preacher, but also a beloved father of five children: Laurice, Javon, Brandi, Larry II, and Lakheem; grandfather of two; Jolie and Joie, along with a host of spiritual sons and daughters in the ministry; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Larry D. Trotter wants all to be encouraged and remember, "What's to come is better than what's been"; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this fifth day of October, 2016 do hereby extend our gratitude and heartiest congratulations to Bishop
