MEMORIAL RESOLUTION HONORING ANNIE BECK
WHEAREAS , Almighty God, in His Infinite wisdom and judgment has called to her eternal rest Annie Beck, beloved citizen, willing worker and friend to many; and
WHEREAS, this august body has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Emma Mitts, Alderman of the 3 7thWard; and ,
WHEREAS, Annie Beck was born in Grenada, Mississippi on October 27, 1937; and Annie Beck was bom the 11th of 12 children. Further, all but three (3) surviving siblings preceded her in death; and
WHEREAS, Annie Beck was united in holy matrimony to her loving, late husband, Wardell Beck, who preceded her in death. Their union was blessed by children. She was the mother of Dwayne Beck and loving grandmother of Dwayne Beck, Jr., also known as "Dewey"; and
WHEREAS, Annie Beck found Christ at an early age and was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church, she later attended Tabernacle of Faith Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a dedicated and faithful member until her passing; and
WHEREAS, Annie Beck was a vital and active member of her family and a resident of the 37th Ward community for over twenty years, participating in local & neighborhood activities in the 37th Ward, where for many years, she served as a precinct captain. She loved staying involved, helping people and made her home available to organizations and groups needing meeting space. Further, she was a 'gentle soul' - a sweet and humble woman who loved to cook and was well-known for her wonderful dishes, cakes and pies. Further, her deep commitment, loyalty, friendship and devotion to Alderman Emma Mitts and the 37th Ward will be deeply missed. She is survived by her loving family: son Dwayne Beck and her grandson, Dwayne Beck, Jr.,.and her brother, Joe Freelom Also mourning her passing are her church members, neighbors along with a host of other relatives, nieces, nephews and many friends; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, that we, the Mayor and the members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, on this 6th day of July, 2011 A.D., do hereby express our sorrow on the passing of Mrs. Annie Beck and extend to her family our sincere condolences.
Be It Further Resolved, that a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family
of Mrs, Annie Beck.
