A City Council Resolution Honoring the Life of Lacy Lloyd Thomas
WHEREAS, Almighty God in His infinite wisdom and judgment has called Mr. Lacy Thomas, to his everlasting reward and returned to the heavenly realm on December 5, 2021; and
WHEREAS, This august Chicago City Council body has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Michelle A. Harris, Alderman of the 8th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Lacy Lloyd Thomas was born in Memphis, TN, to the union of Albert and Lucille on November 13, 1956/ At an early age, he accepted Christ as his personal savior; and
WHEREAS, He attended Calvin Coolidge Elementary School in Lansing, IL, for his foundational years of study. Lacy later attended Thornridge High School in Dolton, IL and later matriculated at Chicago State University where he earned a bachelor's degree in accounting; and
WHEREAS, Lacy's first marriage was to Margaret Allen; to this union a son, Joshua was born. Later in life, Lacy met his soul mate, Henrene Lindsay. They were married and blended their families here Lacy gained two loving children, daughter Ebonee and son Jerry; and
WHEREAS, Lacy and Henrene relocated from Chicago Illinois to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2003 and began a new life together there. Many lasting friendships and unbreakable bonds were formed there.; and
WHEREAS, Lacy's career in finance began at Deloitte Touche where he served as Senior Assistant Accountant. Within two years Lacy began to focus on healthcare institutions in Chicago, IL. From the Evangelical Health System (Financial Systems Analyst) in Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center (Senior Accounting Analyst) to Miles Square Health Center (Assistant Vice President and Controller), Lacy positively impacted rhe bottom line of leach one. Higher education was his next stop. Lacy served as the Associate Vice chancellor for Finance and Chief Financial Officer, However, hospital settings continue to be his calling. Lacy's expertise, experiences, and stellar reputation resulted in his selection as Hospital Director where he was responsible for a budget exceeding four hundred million dollars and a staff of 4,600 employees; and
WHEREAS, Lacy continued to be recruited for his outstanding financial acumen. He served as the Chief Executive Officer for the University Medical Center of Southern Nevads followed by the establishment of L. Thomas Consulting Services, where he provided financial and administrative services to hospitals, position practices, investment forms, and other healthcare related industries. At Airgo USA, LLC. Lace served as Executive Vice President and Chicaf Financial officer. Lacy derived much enjoyment from his family and friends. He was always ready to gather and have a good time; and
WHEREAS, Lacy was an integral part of the success ofr the Chicago Chapter of the national Association of Black Accountants Inc. (NAB A). He was an extremely dedicated member ofthe Association and served two terms as chapter president from 19pha Phi A;l[l to 1983. During his time as president of the chapter was awarded the national convention the turned out to be the most financially successful one in the national organization/s history. After serving as president, he continued to give of his time on committees and working on the annual scholarship dinners. He also throughout his professional career monitored and hired numerous members that the had interacted with. Through his association with NAB A lifelong friendships were made to his. untimely death, were made that continued until his untimely death; and
WHEREAS, Lacy's work could be consuming, but he embraced and fulfilled a community service agenda throughout his many years as a loyal Life Member of the Alp Ha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Lacy's fraternity brothers would describe him as an organizer, An innovator, a go-getter, a Brother who was active both financially as well as physically, and an ever present Brother who was supportive, and a keeper and maintainer; and
WHEREAS, Lacy was a faithful member of Sigma Pi Phi Delta Theta Boule Fraternity since 2005;and
WHEREAS, He was a faithful member of Victory Missionary Baptist Pastor Robert E. Fowler and Rev. Charles Smith, Interim and;
WHEREAS, Lacy L. Thomas completed his earthly duties and responsibilities on December 3m 2021 at 12:00 noon with family, longtime friends, loyal medical staff and clergy all surrounding his bed when God called him home and declared thar he had performed a job well done and with distinction. Lacy's caring spirit, infectious smile, and loving ways will be deeply missed by his beloved wife Henrene, his son Joshua Thomas, Jersey City, New Jersey, his son Jerry Lindsay, Chicago Illinois, and daughter Ebonee Lindsey, Chicago, Illinois.
THEREFORE, Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, do hereby express our deep sorrow on the passing of and extend to his family our sincere condolences; and
