CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO COMMANDER KENNETH A. JOHNSON ON RETIREMENT FROM THE CHICAGO POLICE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, On December 13, 2018, Commander Kenneth A. Johnson, will retire from the Chicago Police Department following thirty-two years of dedicated public service; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this occasion by the Honorable Toni Foulkes, Alderman ofthe 16th Ward; and
WHEREA, Commander Kenneth A. Johnson, will retire as a valued member of the 7th District; and
WHEREAS, Dedication to and fulfillment ofthe motto ofthe Chicago Police Department - "We Serve and Protect" - exacts a substantial physical and emotional toll not only on the officers who must daily cope with the stress and danger of being life's arbitrator for countless citizens, but also on their family members; and
WHEREAS, Throughout a long and distinguished tenure, Commander Kenneth A. Johnson upheld the finest traditions ofthe law enforcement community and through hard work, commitment and dedication to duty, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and the community; and
WHEREAS, Commander Kenneth A. Johnson devoted thirty-two years of public service to the people ofthe City of Chicago and in doing so has personally ensured that the City of Chicago is the safe, healthy and vibrant community it is today; and
WHEREAS, The leaders of this great City of Chicago are cognizant of the great debt owed our public servants, and extend our sheerest gratitude to the long and prolific career of Commander Kenneth A. Johnson; now, therefore
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this thirty-first day of October, 2018, do hereby express our heartiest wishes on a pleasant retirement to Commander Kenneth A. Johnson; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Commander Kenneth A. Johnson.
