MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR KENNETH CAMPBELL

 

WHEREAS, God in His Infinite Wisdom has called Kenneth Campbell, most beloved citizen, to his eternal reward on April 12, 2018; and

 

WHEREAS, This august body has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Emma Mitts, Alderman of the 37th Ward; and

 

WHEREAS, Kenneth, lovingly referred to as "Butch", was born on February 1,1945 in Chicago, Illinois. The eldest of seven, Butch nurtured, protected and mentored his younger siblings. He received his education from Bryant Elementary, Mason Junior High School and Faragut High School. Butch was not intimidated by the bullies on the playground, rather he would stare them down and turn them around; and

 

WHEREAS, Butch met the love of his life, Linda Clark, his wife and best friend of 55 years. They were blessed with 8 children. As the patriarch of the family, Butch made it a priority that family spend quality time together, ensuring all gather during holiday celebrations and family gatherings; and

 

WHEREAS, A Viet Nam veteran, Butch proudly served his country. He was well respected by all in the community as he did not hesitate to give a hand, lend an ear or a warm embrace. He was exemplary in service, and showed humility in greatness; and

 

WHEREAS, Butch leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories; his devoted wife, Linda; eight children, Chevelle (Derek), Lynette (Ed), Kenneth, Keith (Clarice), Linnesha (Joshua), Tassany (Demario), Nicole (Darian), David; adored grandchildren, Shani, Karrington, Chevelle, Kamerohn, Michael, Lil Kenny, Kenyada, KJ, AJ, Jayden, Jayla, Kai; precious great-grandchildren, Joshua Jr., Perion, DJ, Madison, Damarion, Jaylen, Lil Mike, Kelani, Keanu, Melani; siblings, Joseph, Paula, Mary, Sylvester, Tyrone, Dwayne, Edward and a host of extended family and treasured friends; and

 

WHEREAS, Butch touched the lives of all who knew him through his kindness, generosity, and spirit. A true man of god who will be sorely missed but fondly remembered for his compassion, character, intelligence, great integrity and accomplishments; now, therefore

 

Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this twenty-third day of May, 2018 A.D., do hereby commemorate Kenneth "Butch" Campbell for his many lifetime contributions and do hereby extend to his family and many friends our sincere condolences.

 

Be It Further Resolved, that a suitable copy ofthis resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Kenneth "Butch" Campbell.
