Title: Congratulations extended to Angel Diaz on accomplishments and leadership in student government

RESOLUTION
 
WHEREAS, Angel Diaz, an outstanding young citizen and resident of the 12 Ward, has accomplished innumerable triumphs as a student and leader in his school community; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of Angel's various achievements by George Cardenas, Alderman of the 12th Ward; and
 
WHEREAS, after developing an interest in politics at a young age, Angel joined his elementary school's Student Government, and transitioned to Curie High School as a homeroom student representative; and
 
WHEREAS,' seeing that he could serve his school community in an even greater capacity, he made a run for Student Representative, narrowly losing by only one vote. Undeterred by this, he went on to join his school's Executive Board as the Public Relations Chairmen and Board Member of Chicago Freedom School; and
 
WHEREAS, after successfully running for Curie High School Vice President and winning, he then co-founded and became the Vice President of the Chicago District Association of Student Councils; and
 
WHEREAS, elected President of Chicago. District Association of Student Councils in 2015 and elected Curie's Local School Council Student Representative, he was also appointed by the CEO of the Chicago Public Schools to the CPS Student Advisory Council, where he advises on school policies and concerns; and
 
WHEREAS, Angel was selected by the Chicago Board of Education to serve as the 2014-2015 Honorary Student Board Member; and
 
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of this young man extend to many different kinds of service to his community, both at school and city-wide, and Angel is a role model for those around him as a proven leader; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council assembled this eighteenth day of March, 2015, do hereby congratulate and pay tribute to Angel Diaz for all of his accomplishments and wish him great success in college and beyond; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Angel Diaz.
