WHEREAS, Almighty God, in His infinite wisdom and judgment has called to his heavenly home, Mr. Willivory Simpkins, an outstanding citizen, faithful man of God and strong, loyal 8th Ward resident, friend to many and community supporter on November 25, 2018; and
WHEREAS, I Alderman Michelle A. Harris, and on behalf ofthe residents 8th Ward & my fellow colleagues of the Chicago City Council have informed this august body of the passing of Mr. Simpkins; and
WHEREAS, Willivory Simpkins, affectionately known as "Bay" and "Will" to his many friends and colleagues, began his life's earthly journey on January 16, 1942. Will was the son of Lucille Terrell and Willie L. Simpkins, born into a loving family of siblings in Stoneville, Mississippi. Will chose to serve Christ at a young age and maintained a lifelong commitment to his faith; and
WHEREAS, During his entire life Mr. Simpkins was widely respected as a shrewd and intelligent person. A graduate of Chicago public schools, Will pursued vocational training, where he learned several skilled trades, and received many awards and certificates; and
WHEREAS, Willivory enjoyed 19 dedicated, productive years being employed by the Spraying Systems Co, in Wheaton, Illinois. Upon retirement, he worked several jobs, and served the North Lawndale and Austin communities as a friendly taxi driver, before founding his own Will's Livery Service business; and
WHEREAS, Willivory Simpkins possessed excellent character, a strong sense of personal taste and professional judgment. He was a loving, caring people person which made him a treasured and invaluable friend and colleague; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Willivory Simpkins parents and brother Willie L. Simpkins, Jr. preceded him in death. He also leaves to mourn his loss: his devoted wife Nancy; three children: Pierre (Cherry), Victor (Lynn), and Harold (Helen); brother Roosevelt (Mattie) and sisters Annie and Gloria; several stepchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives, neighbor's colleagues and friends; and
