RESOLUTION HONORING CHICAGO POLICE OFFICERS FOR PROACTIVELY REMOVING ILLEGAL FIREARMS FROM THE STREETS OF CHICAGO

 

WHEREAS, Chicago Police Department 18th District Officers Ray Winkler and Mario Fuentes are dedicated to enhancing public safety and serving the citizens ofthe City of Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Officers Ray Winkler and Mario Fuentes are each assigned a beat car, which makes them responsible for responding to 9-1-1 calls within the 18th District in real-time throughout their shifts; and

WHEREAS, While waiting to be dispatched on calls for service, Officers Ray Winkler and Mario Fuentes work proactively to remove illegal firearms from the streets of Chicago, making the City a safer place for residents, businesses, and visitors alike; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed by the honorable Brendan Reilly, Alderman of the 42nd Ward, that during the month of October, 2020, Officer Ray Winkler recovered 16 illegal firearms and Officer Mario Fuentes recovered 14 illegal firearms, successfully removing these firearms from the streets of Chicago; and

WHEREAS, These firearms were recovered via on-view arrest, rather than during a call for service; and

WHEREAS, Officers Ray Winkler and Mario Fuentes exemplify the hard-work and determination that the City needs to reduce crime rates and make everyday citizens feel safe; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this twenty-third day of November, 2020, do hereby express our profound gratitude to 18th District Officers Ray Winkler (Star # 19163) and Mario Fuentes (Star # 9793), for their efforts in proactively removing illegal firearms from the streets of Chicago and keeping the City safe for all residents of the City; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be prepared and presented to Officers Ray Winkler and Mario Fuentes and placed in each of their personnel files as a token of our appreciation, gratitude, and respect.
