WHEREAS, God in his Infinite Wisdom has called Reverend Phillip J. Lambert, most beloved citizen, to his eternal reward on September 9, 2018; and
WHEREAS, This august body has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Carrie M . Austin, Alderman of the 34lh Ward and Chairman ofthe Committee on Budget and Government Operations; and
WHEREAS, Born on November 18, 1940, to Laney and William Lambert in Chicago, Illinois, he was the youngest of eight children; and
WHEREAS, from a very early age was inclined to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Reverend Phillip J. Lambert came from a long line of preachers, including his father, and he heeded the call ofthe Lord; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Phillip J. Lambert served in the U.S. Army for four years and during that time he served in Germany; and
WHEREAS, Prior to the ministry, he was employed with the Illinois Department of Human Services for sixteen years; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Phillip J. Lambert graduated from Gordon College in Theology and later received additional theology training at Trinity University in Deerfield, Illinois, in 1997 he received his certificate in the gospel ministry on the 5th of December of 1971; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Phillip J. Lambert's motto was: God first, God second, God last. Obedience to the will of God alone benefits all mankind; and
WHEREAS, He leaves to cherish his memory; two living sisters, Ines W. Taylor of Illinois, and Audrey Smith of Texas; five nephews, Stephen Lambert (Doris) of Waterville, IL, Douglas Lambert (Inez) of Washington D.C., Charles Taylor (Lytandris) of Chicago, IL, Darwin (Evelyn) of Lombard, IL., and Terrence (Liz) of Raleigh, NC, fourteen nieces; Simona Patterson of California, Monique of California, Inetta (Glen) Reddell of Texas, Tonya (Ben) Wilcher, Dionne, Stephanie, Taylor, Paris, Takara, Tamara, Kamila, Asya, Amari, Kristen, and Taran, six nephews; Julian, Dominique, Tokyo, Charles III, Connor, and Terrance Jr.; along with a host of extended family and treasured friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him and being known by him; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Phillip J. Lambert touched many lives through his loving kindness, generosity and vivacious spirit. He will be deeply missed, but the remembrance of his genuine character, vast intelligence and deep compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council ofthe City of Chicago, gathered here this thirty-first day of October 2018, A.D., do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Reverend Phillip J. Lambert and express to his family and friends our deepest sympathy.
