CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF AN EXTRAORDINARY WOMAN
MRS. OLLIE V. GILLAIRD
WHEREAS, on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, Mrs. Ollie V. Gillaird was called home by the Great 1 AM, "Come for I have prepared a place specifically for thee, a mansion the size of a cily where your loving soul will find eternal rest.'1'' As you cross the threshold of your new Heavenly Home, straightway you will find exquisite walls displayed with platinum framed photographs ofthe many lives that you have touched. Instantaneously, Mrs. Gillaird soul connected with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The Angels stood by Heaven's Gate shouting with an exuberant voice, "Glory Hallelujah - Mrs. Ollie V. Gillaird is coming home!"
WHEREAS, some people will remember Mrs. Gillaird foT her beautiful personality, stylish apparel, quick wit and love for a good game of Bid Whiz. So many others were captivated by her extreme passion for truth and justice to be shown to those she held very dear to her heart. Without hesitation, we can say, she was a faithful woman of her word and she served people with the utmost integrity; and
WHEREAS, the bible states, "A wise woman builds a house but an unwise plucks it down with her hands." Mrs. Ollie V. Gillaird understood the importance of spending quality time with her family. She thoroughly enjoyed preparing delectable meals for the household, teaching them about the power of prayer and the necessity to forgive those that have mistreated them along the way. She was a Proverbs 31 Woman and we can easily attest that Mrs. Gillaird was an absolute blessing to everyone she encountered; and
WHEREAS, we cried many nights for the life of Mrs. Ollie V. Gillaird, we know that God's plan will always supersede our own. So today, let us not say good-bye to Mrs. Gillaird but instead stand and say in unison, "God we are grateful for your presence in the midst of our grief; today we shall embrace your comfort and allow our hearts across this room to be filled with your everlasting peace" As we continue to stand united we hope our lives resemble the legacy of Mrs. Ollie V. Gillaird; and
BE IT RESOLVED that we, the Mayor and members ofthe City Council ofthe City of Chicago will gather together in a Virtual setting on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 A.D. and hereby express our sincere condolences to the family of Mrs. Ollie V. Gillaird, my constituent and a gem of the 21st Ward for 66 years; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution was prepared by 21st Ward Alderman Howard B. Brookins, Jr. and a more suitable copy will be presented at a later date to the family of the Mrs. Ollie V. Gillaird.
