ORDINANCE
WHEREAS, Section 55-28 of the Illinois Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act, codified at 410 ILCS 705/55-28, authorizes the legal voters of any precinct within a municipality with a population of over 500,000 to petition their local alderman, in conformity with procedural requirements set forth in Section 55-28, to introduce an ordinance establishing the precinct as a restricted cannabis zone; and
WHEREAS, The requisite procedural requirements have been met; now therefore, ,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:
SECTION 1. Pursuant to Section 55-58 of the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act (*the Act"), the 26th Precinct ofthe 23rd Ward, as described herein, is hereby designated as a Restricted Cannabis Zone within the meaning of Section 55-28 of the Act. All cannabis business establishments including: cultivation centers; craft growers, processing organizations; infuser organizations; dispensing organizations; and transporting organizations, shall be prohibited within the boundaries of such 26th Precinct, with such boundaries beginning at the intersection of S. Tripp Av, and W. 51" St., thence east on W. 51st St. to S. Avers Av., thence south on S. Avers Av. to W. 52nd St., thence west on W. 52nd St. to S. Harding Av., thence south on S. Harding Av. to W. 55th St., thence west on W. 55th St. to S. Tripp Av., and thence north on S. Tripp Av. to the place of beginning.

SECTION 2. This ordinance shall take full force and effect upon its passage and publication, and shall remain in effect for four years following its effective date.

On January 18,2023, the 30-day comment period for the Petition ended. The Office of the City Clerk has reviewed the Petition for legal sufficiency.
The Office ofthe City Clerk has determined that the submitted Petition contains the signatures of at least 2S% of the registered voters of Ward 23, Precinct 26, as required by the Illinois Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act, 410 ILCS 705/55-28(b) and (c).
Therefore, Alderman Silvana Tabares may introduce an ordinance to restrict home cultivation and the following cannabis business establishments: cultivation centers; craft growers; processing organizations; infuser organizations; dispensing organizations; and transporting organizations in Ward 23, Precinct 26
