MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, God in His Infinite Wisdom has called Loretha Williams, most beloved citizen, to her eternal reward on July 19, 2018; and
WHEREAS, This august body has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Emma Mitts, Alderman of the 37th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Born on April 29, 1941 in Drew, Mississippi, Loretha, the oldest of eight children, was the beloved daughter of (the late) R.E and (the late) Annie Mae Fountain. Loretha accepted Christ at an early age and her relationship with the Lord grew strong and evident. She was a woman of faith, strength, believed in the power of prayer and loved good ole fashioned gospel music. She leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love; and
WHEREAS, Loretha married the love of her life, James, her adored husband of fifty-one years and to this union were blessed with four children. Family was the center of Loretha's life. She was a nurturing, caring, and doting mother with strong morals, believing that family fellowship was important and education was essential; and
WHEREAS, Loretha was employed at Advocate Bethany Hospital in Chicago and proudly served for forty five years until her retirement. Cooking was her specialty and relished entertaining family and close friends. Her home was open to anyone in need. She also loved to dress up and had a keen sense of fashion; and
WHEREAS, Loretha leaves to cherish her memories; her children, Minnie, Ethel and Anthony; grandchildren, Quintin, Vartese, Ronell, Jermaine, Constamika, Victory, Joy, Fclton, Tempestt, Traci and Marquita; great grandchildren, Anyiah, Vonyae, Jali, Kiara, Dakiyah, Victoria, Dawan, McKinley, Logan and Kenslee; her very special friend of more than forty years, Georgia Lane and a host of extended family and treasured friends; and
WHEREAS, Loretha touched the lives of all who knew her through her unconditional love and vivacious spirit. She will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her; now, therefore
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this twentieth day of September, 2018, do hereby extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Loretha Williams; and
Be It Further Resolved, that a suitable copy of this resolution will be presented to the family of Loretha Williams as a sign of our sympathy and good wishes.
