RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, Consuelo Crump Williams (a/k/a "Connie" was born in Chicago Illinois and educated in the Chicago Public School system, receiving a Bachelor's Degree from Chicago Teacher's College and later, graduate degrees from Chicago State University and Northern Illinois University; and

 

WHEREAS, Connie was married on June 21, 1953 to the love of her life Donald (affectionately known as "Duck"), and to this union two children were born - Tracey Dion, and Donald Courtney; and

 

WHEREAS, Connie was baptized at an early age at Ebenezer Church where she served faithfully; she later joined St. Mark United Methodist Church in the Chatham neighborhood; and

 

WHEREAS, Connie was a teacher/cooperative work coordinator for the Chicago Board of Education for 36 years. She worked with students who were blind, deaf, visually/physically impaired, or who experienced other learning disabilities her entire career; and

 

WHEREAS, Connie was very involved with many civic and philanthropic organizations: WTTW, Beverly Art Center, DuSable Museum (volunteer), Urban Gateways (volunteer service auxiliary member), Theater Exposure (council board member), Sammy Dyer School of the Theater (auxiliary board member), Bronzeville Children's Museum (board member), Introspect Youth Services (board member), Illinois Blind Service Association (board member), Phi Delta Kappa (Leadership Committee), and Alpha Kappa Alpha Inc. (Golden Sorority Member); and

 

WHEREAS, Connie was a well-known bridal/fashion consultant and commentator where many have said that "if you had a wedding in the past 50 years, then Connie probably coordinated it;" and

 

WHEREAS, Connie also cherished spending time with family and friends, forming a group known as the 1st Friday Bridge Club, celebrating fashion with The Guild, relishing retirement with Partners in Retirement, and other groups such as We Hunter Girls, The Couples Club, and the Posse; and

 

WHEREAS, Connie's memory will forever by cherished by her children, granddaughters, goddaughter, Sybil Wilkes; and by all who knew and loved her.
