RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, In His infinite wisdom, Almighty God has granted eternal peace lo Ralph Jones Weaver on March 1, 2018, outstanding citizen and member of his community; and

WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Anthony Beale, Alderman of the 9lh Ward; and

 

WHEREAS, Born on October 8, 1934 in Wynne Arkansas, Ralph was the beloved son of the late Ruth and Lon Weaver and the youngest of eight children. He is a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in Memphis, Tennessee and where he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior; and

 

WHEREAS, Ralph relocated to Chicago, Illinois where he began his career as a mail carrier with the United States Postal Service. He retired following twenty two years of dedication and commitment to those he served and fondly known as mail man Ralph to the families on his route; and

 

WHEREAS, Ralph married the love of his life, Louise Chandler, his wife of more than sixty years. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters; and

 

WHEREAS, Ralph was heavily involved not only in his community and the city of Chicago, but also in the lives of his daughters and grandchildren. Better known as "Poppa," he enjoyed playing golf, supporting the Chicago Bulls team, and supporting many activities al Park Manor Christian Church; and

 

WHEREAS, Ralph leaves to cherish his memories; his loving wife, Louise; adored daughters, Valerie Weaver and Donna Weaver Grant; grandson, Horace Grant Jr. and granddaughter, Alana Walker, and a host of extended family and treasured friends; and

 

WHEREAS, Ralph served many different roles in his life as a citizen, employee, husband, father, uncle, friend, and community member, and fulfilled those roles with compassion, character, and generosity; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED, that we the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, gathered together this twenty-third day of May, 2018, do hereby express our sincerest sorrow upon learning of the passing of Ralph Jones Weaver and extend our deepest condolence to his family and loved ones.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVES, that suitable copies of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Ralph Jones Weaver.
