Resolution Honoring for F. Timothy Muri President and Chief Executive Officer Easter Seals Metropolitan Chicago
 
Whereas, F. Timothy Muri, President and Chief Executive Officer of Easter Seals Metropolitan Chicago has forty years of progressive management growth and success within the non-profit service provider sector; and
 
Whereas, Easter Seals Metropolitan Chicago, a voluntary non-profit organization, is incorporated under Illinois State laws, and provides comprehensive services for individuals with disabilities or other special needs and their families to improve quality of life and maximize independence; and
 
Whereas, F. Timothy Muri has helped Easter Seals Metropolitan Chicago realize it's mission to maximize independence and create opportunities for people with disabilities and other special needs to live, learn, work and play in their communities by providing a lifespan of premier services; and
 
Whereas, Mr. Muri's dream became a reality with the building of a "one-of-a-kind" Therapeutic School and Center for Autism Research in Chicago's Illinois Medical District. In partnership with the Brian Body Center at the University of Illinois at Chicago, The Easter Seals school for children and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders offers the chance for students to receive an education and, at the same time, access additional treatment protocols and learn appropriate socialization; and,
 
Whereas, Mr. Muri began his career as a teacher in 1973, working for Easter Seals as a school coordinator and teacher for children with disabilities in Altoona, Pennsylvania. He served as an Executive Director for the Blair County Easter Seal Society in Altoona, PA; Lancaster County Easter Seal Society in Lancaster, PA; and Georgia Easter Seal Society in Atlanta, GA. He was named President & CEO of Easter Seals Metropolitan Chicago in 1989. Under his guidance, Easter Seals Metropolitan Chicago has continued to grow and proactively respond to the needs of the Chicago community; and
 
Whereas, Mr. Muri has served in various leadership positions at the state and national levels of Easter Seals throughout his 40-year Easter Seals career. He is a member of Rotary One Chicago. In 2010, he received the EP Maxwell J. Schleifer Distinguished Service Award from Exceptional Parent Magazine which gives recognition to the extraordinary achievements of individuals involved in the care and development of the disabled. He also received the Paul Harris Fellow Award from The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International, their highest honor; and
 
Whereas, The Honorable Robert W. Fioretti, Alderman of the 2nd Ward, has apprised this august body of Mr. F. Timothy Muri's extraordinary career and dedication to the community; now, therefore
 
Be it Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this eighth day of October 2014, do hereby salute F. Timothy Muri for his work with Easter Seals Metropolitan Chicago and express our heartfelt wish for his continued success; and
 
Be it Further Resolved, that a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to F. Timothy Muri.
