CONGRATULATING ANNIE RAE ELLIOTT ON CELEBRATING HER 100TH BIRTHDAY
WHEREAS, We, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, wish to extend our congratulations and warmest birthday wishes to Annie Rae Elliott in honor of her 100th birthday; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this milestone by the Honorable Carrie M. Austin, Alderman ofthe 34th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Annie Rae Rounsobille was born on March 3, 1920, in Grenada, Mississippi, where she was raised and educated, and where she met her future husband, I.W. Elliott; and
WHEREAS, At the tender age of 18, Annie Rae and I.W. were married, and to their union six children were born: Sell, Decota Wilmington, Jimmy, Eddie, Osby, and Derrick Elliott; and
WHEREAS, Today, Annie Rae is blessed with 29 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Annie Rae continues to show the world that "age is just a number" as an independent woman who lives on her own, takes care of herself, and even orders a Pace bus to take her to hair appointments; and
WHEREAS, Annie Rae has many passions, including watching a good movie; and
WHEREAS, Annie Rae's greatest joy over the years has been spending time with her family, whether over a meal or just sitting around enjoying each other's company and good conversation; and
WHEREAS, When asked about her secret to longevity, Annie Rae replies she is a child of the King, so she does not worry, giving Him the glory for allowing her to celebrate her 100th birthday with her family, her good health, and for being in her right mind; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this eighteenth day of March, 2020, do hereby congratulate Annie Rae Elliott on her 100th birthday, and wish her continued success and happiness; and
