Whereas, God in His infinite Wisdom has called Florida Mae Zolicoffer-Bellmon, most beloved citizen to her eternal reward, June 30, 2015;
WHEREAS, This august body has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Emma Mitts, Alderman ofthe 37th Ward; and
Whereas, Florida was born January 5,1939 to the union of Lee Williams and Queen Ester Zollicoffer in Isola, Mississippi.
Whereas, Florida was reared up and attended MacNeal High School in Belzoni, Mississippi. She united'in Holy Matrimony to Frank Bellmon Sr. and to that union six children were born.
Whereas, in 1960, Florida united with New St. John M. B. Church where she served as President ofthe Usher Board, Sunday School Teacher, Bible Class Teacher and First Lady for 32 years. She was a hard worker, and was employed by many companies. She was employed as the Lead Supervisor from Shure Inc. until her retirement.
Whereas, Florida loved to read and spend time playing games with her children and grandchildren. She was also a past member ofthe Eastern Stars.
Whereas, Florida heart was so big it had room for everyone she crossed paths with. Her love is instilled in the hearts of many and her memory will live forever.
Whereas, She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 57 years: Reverend Frank Bellmon, Sr.; One Son: Frank, Jr. (Senetra); Two daughters: Susie (Eric) and Melanie; Sixteen Grandchildren: Ericll, Cedric, Henry, Lesha, Thereane,
Tyrell, Tavarus, Velerencia, Keosha, Marquita, China, Taesha, Nancy, Diamond, Jawan, and Toya; Twenty -Seven great-grandchildren; six Brothers-in-law: Special brother-in-law Samuel Bellmon, Richard Simpson, Charlie Simpson, Robert Edmond, Richard Edmond, and Walter Smith; Three Sisters-in-law: Linda Edmond, Ora Edmond and Essie Zolicoffer, Special Sisters: Lucy Askew and Rosie Lumpkin; Godchildren: Natasha Henderson and Secquoyah Henderson; Special Niece: Queen Ester; A Host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends.
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor of the City of Chicago and members of the City Council gathered this twenty nineth day of July, take this opportunity to recognize the years of that Florida has provided for the City of Chicago and,
