RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Michael C. Raines has gone to his eternal reward at the age of 33; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A native of Chicago, Michael C. Raines was a valued member of the Cook County Sheriffs Police Department; and
WHEREAS, Raised in the Ashburn neighborhood on the Far Southwest Side, Michael C. Raines grew up in a law enforcement family; and
WHEREAS, Michael C. Raines was the much-adored son of Richard "Ron" (C.P.D.-Retired) and Ann, nee Skopis; and
WHEREAS, Michael C. Raines was the dear brother of Cindy (C.P.D.), Mark, Peter (CCSPD), William, Thomas and the late Rick; and
WHEREAS, Michael C. Raines graduated from Western Illinois University in McComb, Illinois, where he majored in criminal justice; and
WHEREAS, In 2006 Michael C. Raines joined the Cook County Sheriffs Police Department and was assigned to work at the Cook County Jail at 26th Street and California Avenue; and
WHEREAS, In his leisure time, Michael C. Raines loved antique cars, collecting baseball cards and attending Chicago White Sox games; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Michael C. Raines serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Michael C. Raines to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Michael C. Raines was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Michael C. Raines imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-first day of October 2015, do hereby commemorate Michael C. Raines for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this ^r^solution be presented to the family of Michael C. Raines.
